Isle CAMIGUIN!

Home to seven volcanoes, Camiguin is dubbed as the "Island Born of Fire". It is a small and peaceful island in the Philippines located in the Bohol Sea off the northern coast of Mindanao.

Camiguin has re-opened and once again welcoming travelers, but to make sure that they lessen the spread of COVID-19, tourists are still asked to complete a Health Declaration Form in exchange for a QR code that will be presented prior to entering the island.

HOW TO GET THERE:

  • Fly directly to Camiguin Airport or
  • Board a ferry to Benoni Wharf like we did - we booked a morning flight to Cagayan De Oro, hopped on a bus at Agora Terminal going to Balingoan Port and from there we board the ferry going to Benoni Wharf.

We paid for our ferry ticket, environmental fee and terminal fee.

Upon reaching Benoni Wharf, you will be asked to scan your QR code before you can leave the port. I am just amazed as to how organized the process was.

We rode a jeepney going to our accommodation and it was another 25 to 30 minutes ride going to Mambajao which happened to be the main town in Camiguin. Upon reaching Mambajao we had to transfer to a multicab that would take us to Lanzones Cabana, we paid PHP80/each for the jeepney ride and multicab. For easy transfers, you can also book it through your hotel/accommodation.

We booked a room at Lanzones Cabana through Booking.com as its on the top recommended places to stay in Camiguin. The place looks just how it was advertised online. We got a Superior Bungalow room that has its own stove, microwave, private bathroom, 4 twin beds, 1 queen bed, a living room and a dining area. Not bad for PHP3,526 or PHP706/each for an overnight stay. The staff are all accommodating and even helped me in arranging our land tour and island tour.
