Promised myself that I would continue embracing new experiences, and little did I expect that I would have the opportunity to try being a farmer for a day. I was fortunate enough to be invited to witness the launch of the #HarvestingReverence campaign by Lingap LEADS Foundation.
WHO IS LINGAP LEADS FOUNDATION INC.?
Lingap LEADS Foundation, Inc. is the Philippines' premier advocate for occupational health and safety for farmers, also they've emerged as the social development arm of the Leads Group of Companies, driven by the foundation's commitment to uplift the nation's marginalized rural communities.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
Being true to their name, "Lingap" or compassionate caring, the foundation not only seeks to raise awareness but also aims to make substantial investments in the comprehensive well-being of farmers. These involve initiatives addressing their occupational health, safety, and broader quality of life. In gratitude for the support that propels our mission, let's continue this journey together, transforming the lives of farmers and shaping a future where their contributions are celebrated, and their welfare prioritized.
FARMER FOR A DAY ACTIVITY:
The experience of being a farmer for a day was both eye-opening and humbling. I now understood the folk song "Magtanim ay di biro.." as because of this experience, I now couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment and big respect for the resilient spirit of those who toil the earth to feed our communities. Spending a day as a farmer deepened my appreciation for the crucial role that farmers play in sustaining our basic need; RICE.
Lingap LEADS Foundation Inc. is committed to providing independent rice farmers with free access to Leads Agriventure's premium Jackpot rice seeds. Not only does this exceptional seed variety guarantee larger yields, but it also ensures the production of premium-quality rice. I had the opportunity to try the Jackpot Rice during the event with the traditional binalot lunch served to us. February 2024 marks the commercial launch of the mentioned Jackpot Rice.
