Filipinos have a profound appreciation for meat, a passion that shines through in our rich and diverse culinary traditions. Meat dishes are central to our daily meals and festive gatherings, which likely explains the immense popularity of Korean BBQ in Manila. This trend highlights our adventurous palate and our enthusiasm for bold, flavorful cuisines from around the globe.
How about elevating the traditional Korean BBQ experience by merging it with the sophistication of a classic steakhouse? This fusion creates an upscale dining atmosphere where high-quality meats and Korean culinary techniques come together for a unique and refined culinary experience. Introducing Giwon Korean Steakhouse, located at the 2/F of Mitsukoshi Mall in BGC, they offer a variety of meticulously chosen beef cuts, including American Wagyu, and strives to deliver a contemporary and engaging twist on traditional steakhouse dining but not only that we find their menu impressive as even their appetizers and drinks would leave you wanting for more.
Starting off with Salmon Crudo, the vibrant orange hue of the salmon contrasted against bright, fresh garnishes. This refreshing appetizer highlights the quality and freshness of the salmon.
This may look like ordinary thick-cut potato fries, but surprisingly, their version of Matang Fries really hits the spot! We’re all familiar with tanghulu, the sugar-coated fruits, but imagine it with potato fries instead! These candied sweet potato fries are topped with roasted sesame seeds. I couldn’t stop myself from eating them.
Their savory, stir-fried handmade Kimchi Udon, tossed in a house secret sauce, is a flavorful fusion dish that delivers a tangy and spicy kick from the kimchi and includes pork, which enhances the overall flavor.
Gochujang Pasta is one of my favorites from their menu! It features creamy handmade tagliatelle sautéed with shrimp, finished with truffle oil and shellfish. This unique fusion dish results in a harmonious blend of Italian and Korean flavors, creating a spicy and savory pasta experience.
After savoring the appetizers and entrees, we’re now diving into the main event. The Aged Iberico Pork Loin was the first meat served to us. This cut is the leanest of pork, offering not only exceptional tenderness but also mouthwatering moisture. The aging process amplifies the pork loin's distinctive, complex flavors, resulting in a succulent and juicy texture.
This American Tenderloin Angus was unbelievably tender, with a buttery texture and very fine marbling! Each bite delivers a luxurious, mouthwatering experience that highlights the quality of the Angus beef.
Each bite of the American Wagyu Tosisal boasts a perfect balance of fat and meat. Its marbling infuses the beef with a savory, umami-rich taste, making it incredibly juicy.
Their Marinated Giwon Galbi offers a delectable and authentic taste of Korean barbecue. This standout dish features tender, marinated beef short ribs and is best paired with their array of traditional Korean side dishes.
A Korean meal isn't complete without its array of side dishes. At Giwon, you can enjoy an unlimited choice of traditional Korean accompaniments alongside your steak, including Kimchi, Coleslaw, Pamuchin Korean Salad Leeks, Myeolchi Bokkeum, Pickled Radish and Carrots, Pickled Cucumber with Red Chili, Pickled White Onions and Green Chili, Lettuce, and Steamed Rice. Enhance your meal with condiments like Truffle Salt, Homemade Samjang, and Ponzu Wasabi.
What’s a great meal without a great drink to go with it? For those who love ube, this Ube Latte is a must-try! It combines Haku vodka, ube liqueur, coconut cream, and egg white to create a drink with a velvety texture and vibrant purple hue. Its visually appealing and inviting presentation perfectly complements the rich flavors of the ube.
The "Lemonade" sounds refreshing, but don’t be deceived! It's made of Roku Gin, Limoncello, sparkling water, and a lemon-strawberry mix, offering a sophisticated twist on a classic flavor.
The Yuzu Mojito, made with Havana Club 3 Años, a lime-yuzu mix, syrup, and soda water, is another refreshing choice that pairs perfectly with your steak.
Giwon Korean Steakhouse offers an omakase concept, providing a curated dining experience where guests leave the choice and preparation of dishes to the chef.
